At Kūpono Wealth Planning, Tonya works as a Financial Advisor and Paraplanner, developing portfolio analytics, financial plans, and reports that help clients navigate their finances and plan confidently for the future. Prior to Kūpono Wealth Planning, Tonya spent 15 years in technology product and program management, leading the development and rollout of enterprise products in payments and marketing at PayPal and multiple startups. What began as a personal endeavor to become more financially knowledgeable and confident in her own investment decisions, ultimately became the catalyst for a career transition into financial services.
Tonya draws on her experience building complex software products to understand the layers, interdependencies, and interconnectedness that characterize comprehensive financial plans. Her personal experiences as a first-generation immigrant, wife, mother, and a part of the sandwich generation have also shaped her ability to understand and relate to the financial needs and challenges families face today. Steered by Kūpono Wealth Planning’s values, Guided by Experience, Grounded in Aloha, Tonya is committed to helping clients pursue their life goals through an informed, intentional, and holistic approach to financial planning and implementation.
After a childhood in California, Tonya moved to France during her high school years and attended the Lycée International de Saint-Germain-en-Laye. She later graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and began a career in Silicon Valley’s tech industry. As life sometimes leads us down unexpected paths, Tonya ultimately found her way to the North Shore of Oʻahu. Today, she divides her time between the North Shore and Honolulu with her husband; Kyle, their two daughters, Vienna and Chloe; and their dog, Taffy.
